Adventurous pupils are aiming high at a Peak District primary school with the help of a new playground climbing wall.
The £30,000 development at Stoney Middleton Primary School also includes restored playground railings, raised flower beds and colourful outdoor learning zones.
Cllr Mike Longden, Derbyshire County Council cabinet member for education, opened the playground at a ceremony attended by pupils, staff and governors.
Cllr Longden said: "The design of the new playground really makes the most of the school's outdoor facilities and will give staff and students new horizons.
"I'm delighted to be able to officially open this tremendous new space - it is already proving to be a big hit with pupils."
Headteacher Christopher Tupling said he was delighted pupils would have more opportunities to keep fit and active.
He added: "I'm sure our new playground will be a valuable resource to help our pupils enjoy their learning and break times."
