In compiling this programme it seems to have taken on the title 'A year in the life of Stoney Middleton'.

What a year it has been. Many of our visitors will have seen or heard news items on local TV and radio and read articles in the local and national press concerning the ongoing saga that has been Stoney Middleton 2006/2007. With the threatened closure of our school and Post Office, flooding and a mud slide we have had a very eventful time. There have been happier times too and now we look forward to the pleasures of Well Dressing with a real feeling of celebration in the air.

We were delighted when Patrick McLoughlin MP agreed to open the wells this year. He has been very active during all our trials and tribulations. Unlike many MPs he turns up to fund raising events and public meetings without an entourage of media people. He has offered his advice and support most generously, giving Stoney Middleton several mentions at Westminster. You will find his contribution to the programme on the next news items.
